Dear Committee Members & Friends:
Congratulations on being elected to the Allegheny County Democratic Committee.
We look forward to working with you as we plan and organize for November’s election.
We want to thank the 700 plus committee members who attended the ACDC Reorganization Meeting. We hope you found the information and discussions helpful and worthwhile. Our goal is to continue to expand on that energy and excitement as we work to build out a more robust and active ACDC.
The First Week
We want you to know that we have spent this past week learning, transferring, and updating. The first thing we learned was that it is rare to be elected to a position and take charge immediately. We are in the process of updating the committee rolls, upgrading the ACDC website and transferring Facebook to our team. We are reviewing the current Votebuilder access and will begin to process Votebuilder requests and committee appointments over the next few weeks. Please know that we are continuing to plug away behind the scenes and would greatly appreciate your patience.
New Executive Director: Emily Marburger
We are excited to announce that Emily Marburger will be serving as the ACDC Executive Director. Emily is currently the campaign director for Mandy Steele’s campaign and will continue working with Mandy’s campaign through the election. Many of us have seen Emily’s passion for political organizing, her tireless energy, and her high ethical standards. We are confident she will help lead us to becoming a stronger and more vibrant county committee.
Secretary Jaqueline Hill & Treasurer Robert Collini
Jacqueline Hill, a member of the Swissvale Democratic Committee and Robert Collini, from the Wilkinsburg Democratic Committee have been appointed to serve as Secretary and Treasurer of the ACDC respectively.
Jackie has extensive experience as a business advisor to minority and women led firms and has spent years navigating and securing contracts for small businesses.
Rob is a software engineer who has served as the Treasurer for the Pennsylvania Young Democrats and Secretary of the Young Democrats of Allegheny County.
Additionally, we are pleased that Attorney Frederick Frank will continue as a member of our ACDC Team and share his vast knowledge and experience regarding financial compliance and campaign finance reporting.
Our main focus is the November 8th election.
Our goal is to help committee members become deeply engaged with voters.
We strongly believe that committee members are the most sustainable, effective and authentic way of connecting with voters and that the ACDC is at its best when committee members are in their communities interacting with voters and encouraging them to support our Democratic candidates.
We want to help committee members develop a plan of action for the next 3 1/2 months. We know that when a voter has plan to vote, they will vote. Likewise, we believe that when committee members have a plan on how to engage with the voters in their district, they will execute on that plan.
Our responsibility is to help provide those tools and resources to help make your efforts more efficient and productive.
So here are some of our plans as we press forward.
- Committee member trainings: Over 300 committee members signed up for a committee training last Wednesday. The first trainings are being planned to begin the week of July 25th. Please watch for the announcements regarding the times and places.
- Mail-in Voting: We believe one of the best ways for the ACDC to add value to the candidates and their campaigns is to provide a well-organized and coordinated county-wide mail-in voting program targeting low-propensity voters. We want to use the strength of the ACDC grassroots network in reaching out to voters. We plan to share more details in early to mid-August.
- Days of Actions: We will be highlighting various candidate’s days of action and encourage committee members to assist in these critical races. The first one is Senator Lindsey Williams’ July 24th Day of Action. Please RSVP online: bit.ly/July24Williams
Finally, we want to thank former ACDC Chair Eileen Kelly and Executive Director Joe McAndrews for their service to the ACDC and for conducting the ACDC Reorganization meeting. We look forward to their continued support and contributions to the party and our candidates.
Again thank you for your service as a committee member and we look forward to working with you.
Sam Hens-Greco, ACDC Chair Morgan Overton, ACDC Vice Chair
