
AUSTIN DAVIS NAMED DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE IN HD35 SPECIAL ELECTION
In a meeting held this afternoon at Penn State Greater Allegheny, Austin Davis, 28, of McKeesport was unanimously voted to be the Democratic Party’s nominee in the special election for State Representative in the 35th Legislative District.
“Austin has spent his entire life serving others. He is the best choice to serve the Mon Valley as their State Representative,” said Nancy Patton Mills, Chair of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee. “When he’s elected by the voters in January, Austin will hit the ground running. There’s absolutely no learning curve with him.”
A lifelong resident of the Mon Valley, Austin Davis currently serves in the Allegheny County Executive’s office and as Vice-Chairman of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee. In his role in the County Executive’s, office, Austin spearheaded the County Executive’s Vision/ Transition teams early in the administration and represents the County Executive on the Jail Oversight Board, the Kane Foundation, the Minority, Women, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Advisory Board, and the Shuman Detention Center Advisory Board. Davis also serves on the board of directors of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, The Consortium for Public Education, Communities in Schools of Pittsburgh, and Auberle.
The special election for this seat will be held on January 23rd. The 35th Legislative District includes Clairton, Duquesne, McKeesport, Munhall, West Mifflin, and White Oak.
