A life-long resident of the Mon Valley, Mr. Gergely attended the McKeesport Area High School and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communication with a focus on Business. Matthew serves as the Chief Revenue Officer for the City of McKeesport, having previously served the McKeesport City Administrator and the McKeesport School District Business Manager.

As president of the Regional History & Heritage Center and a member of the Housing Authority board – both located in
McKeesport – Matthew values giving back to his community. He has been a member of the McKeesport Democratic Committee and the Allegheny County Democratic Committee for many years. Matthew was introduced to politics and public service in the 1980s – volunteering as a youth alongside family and friends who served as Mayor, City Council, McKeesport Area School Directors, and various state offices.

Matthew and his wife Holly lived in White Oak for a short time before purchasing their current home in McKeesport, where they reside with sons Mason (13) and Jerrett (9), and a lively Bernese Mountain dog named Monty. The Gergely family
is active in the McKeesport Shared Ministry: Beulah Park United Methodist Church.

“As lifelong McKeesporters, Holly and I are proud to be raising our sons in this community – keeping them active in local sports, student organizations, and volunteer events,” he said.
